At the pinnacle of your different quality options, you have proof coins. Produced using fewer dies and more strikes for a beautifully defined finish, they are carefully aligned and polished by hand. Proof coins are made using the highest standard of the Royal Mint and so tend to be the most expensive.

Next, you have Brilliant Uncirculated (or BU) coins, which are finished to a finer standard than your average coins produced for circulation. The lowest quality of uncirculated coins are Bullion coins, which have a similar finish to regular circulating coins. You can select your coin quality based on your budget and the reason for your purchase. Proof coins are the top choice for serious collectors or those looking for a special commemorative gift.
